Williams, Melvin D.

About the author: Melvin D. Williams is professor of anthropology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of Community in a Black Pentecostal Church, The Human Dilemma, On the Street Where I Lived, and Race for Theory, and The Black Experience in Middle Class America. He has served as an academic administrator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and at Purdue University and the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Williams organized a city chapter and served as president of the NAACP while at Purdue University.
