Chavers, Dean

Dr. Dean Chavers is the Director of Catching the Dream, formerly known as the Native American Scholarship fund. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and his two M.A. degrees and his Ph.D. from Stanford University. Dr. Chavers has written over 20 books, including The National Indian Grant Directory, How to Write Winning Proposals, and Exemplary Programs in Indian Education. He is the former President of Bacone College.
In his capacity as Director of Catching the Dream, Dr. Chavers has helped 637 Native American students finish college and has acted as the initiator of the Exemplary Programs in Indian Education (EPIE) Movement, which has procduced 38 such program in Indian schools.
